Stann Creek, Belize. Private island

A private island where the water is crystal clear with a beautiful blue hue

As soon as we approached the island I was astonished, it was a magnificent sight to behold. The island was clear and peaceful, undistributed by civilization. Truly a private island where you could sit back and take in the beauty of the ocean. In the ocean, I saw a variety of creatures such as pelicans, stingrays, and many types of fish. On the island, I saw hermit crabs, ants, beetles, and coconuts.

Let me tell you I went a little overboard collecting the coconuts that were scattered all over the island. I love coconut water; so, I did what anyone would do. I started to collect every coconut I saw. Sadly, one of the locals informed me that the water wouldn’t be any good, since the coconuts were old. They said that the water would be spoiled and oily. But, they did let me know that for $1 there was a guy that picks out the freshest coconut right off of the palm tree, so I went and ordered a fresh coconut. The guy went to the nearest palm tree with a pole saw, cut the best coconut out, then he chopped it with an ax, and handed me the fresh coconut ready to drink. The coconut water was refreshing and fun to drink since I was drinking it straight from the coconut. Of course, I went back for more.

After my adventure, I settled in with my group to enjoy a feast that was prepared by our hosts. Our feast featured BBQ chicken with their signature rice and beans with a few other sides. After the feast, I enjoyed my evening in the ocean relaxing and soaking in the sunlight. Truly a remarkable place I will never forget.
